Walker Creek Ranch is in the rolling hills of West Marin County, between Petaluma and Tomales Bay, about one hour's drive north of San Francisco, California. It's quiet and beautiful, with an abundance of wildlife and miles of hiking trails, a swimming pond, healthy and delicious food, and various accommodation options (ranging from private rooms to RV and tent camping to day-commuter).
The price (meals included) for a full time camper (includes morning classes) ranges from $400 to $775, depending on meals and lodging choices. If you're on a tight budget, there are ways to reduce the cost, such as coming as a half-time camper (on a space available basis) or applying for a scholarship or work trade. Prices are less for kids age ten and under, call for details. Late fees are added to all prices after September 1st, and the late fees increase after October 1st. More info on the FAQs page.
Can't get your bass to camp, or need a loaner? Just ask. (Thanks to our bass angel, Steve Swan!)

Some comments from recent happy campers:
“Wow, another great camp. I appreciate that you recognize an event like this can be a very powerful experience. Your attention to detail is obvious. You also seem to value the magic that can happen at a music camp. I hope there will be many more WCMCs to come.”
“This camp was amazing from start to finish. I can’t say enough how much I enjoy it. It is like Disneyland without the long lines. I think the fundamental for this starts with the community – the people here – instructors and students – are so nice! The music is lively and there are so many wonderful musicians. The entire experience, from beginning to end, was really informative, but also engaging and fun. Whodathunk learning could be so enjoyable? It has been a few days since camp ended and I am still buzzing over it. I can’t wait for the next one.”
“It was a delight to participate in your camp. Each camp has its own ‘culture.’ You have created an experience that is inclusive, friendly, joyful and relaxed.”
“Thanks again for an amazing four days. I loved every minute of it.”
“Really remarkable experience!! I love WCMC.”
“I have done a lot of workshops over the years, 500? A thousand? I don’t know for sure. But your music camp stands out as a very good one, maybe the most ambitious, and one of the very best.”
“Thank you so much!!! This camp was amazing in every sense of the word and everyone involved was awesome. It was a wonderful experience I will repeat as often as I can in the future. My mind was totally blown all weekend on how much more the camp was than I could have ever expected.”
“The food at this camp is the best of any camps I go to.”
“It's obvious to me the work you put into this event and the joy it brings to so many people. It was an amazing experience to meet so many great people in one place and rub elbows with some true greats. As a newbie to bluegrass, it really cemented my love for the music, the people, and the culture surrounding it. I can't say thank you enough for having me and allowing me to work a bit to come. I loved every second.”
“I’m getting progressively more comfortable jamming with complete strangers, because folks are so friendly and encouraging. Connecting with people of all ages is one of my favorite parts of camp--I think Walker Creek is the only place where this really happens for me.”
“I have to say that you do an amazing job of organizing and running this event. I initially thought it looked extremely busy and complex, but you made it run like a clock… very impressive. And one of the unexpectedly powerful moments for me was the student concert evening: the students’ and instructors’ music was deep and wide… it reminded me of the early folk music days in Chicago and Kansas City sorta’ 50 years ago when I first experienced traditional music as something powerful and moving. Your folks really got it, it was a fitting conclusion to your event.”
“Thanks for a great camp. They just keep getting better and better. I am still catching up on sleep but I have so many great memories in my head!!!!!!”
“I am a fan, and always look forward to the camp. I have been through treatment and surgery for throat cancer, which has had some very serious effects on my health and my lifestyle. I am so happy that the camp can accommodate me. The accommodations were perfect for me, and I appreciate that they were available. Music is helping me have motivation to keep going, and your camp is a big part of my musical experience.”
“It was a great time and well-organized as always. I love the late-night jamming - the whole camp was perfect for me - no problems at all. Thanks!”
“I would like to emphasize that we greatly enjoy your camps. They are always very enjoyable, highly rewarding experiences that we consider to be highlights of our year.”
“I was delighted at the etiquette promoted in all the jams that respected the variation in everyone’s capabilities and encouraged a little risk taking. There were some memorable moments..”
“Loved Camp. Absolutely loved it.”
